I enjoy reading what some of the Elders, true Elders, of the Church have to say about the times we are living in now. It is so obvious that what they know to be Holy, sanctified living is not what is being demonstrated or taught today. Some of the Elders are most elegant in voicing what they see and hear.
Others write about the truth not being preached any more, no standards, etc.
When I came into the Church, there was a standard. And, that standard was put into my heart and soul. The Elders made sure you knew the truth and held you to living the truth that you heard. For they realized that the Lord is not slack concerning his promises as some men count slackness. But is long suffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance. II Peter 3:9. They knew the fear of the Lord and taught it to the Saints. You could not be foolish in Church and you could not bring foolishness into the Church. They did not care about your 'gift'. They cared about your soul. They knew what the Lord expects in order to make it into Heaven.
But, what about today?
My soul grieves when I see the slack in the things of the Lord. The excuses made to over look sin and wrong doing. The excuses made to justify sin and wrong doing.
Has man forgot that the Lord is angry with the wicked every day? Has man forgot that the Lord expects Holiness? Just like the world is trying to redefine the family the luke warm and ungodly are trying to redefine Holiness.
As a Pastor, it truly grieves my soul to see so many perishing because they will not pursue the heart of the Lord and get in place so He can do what He came to do.......save the lost......bring deliverance....set the captives free. The many I speak of go to church 2-4 times a week at least. Lost in the House. This new generation, does not want their sins called out. The Bible says open rebuke is better than secret love (Proverbs 27:5). This new generation walks in pride and arrogance, with no fear of the consequences that will come in the judgment. God has already said He is the Lord and He changes not. He said He is angry with the wicked everyday. He said, "But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burnt with fire and brimstone: which is the second death". Revelations 21:8
Those charged with preaching/teaching the Gospel need to go forth in Jesus Name. Yes, persecution will come. Jesus said he was wounded in the house of his friends. But if one thinks or believes he or she will go to Heaven just because they can say the name Jesus, sing, dance or recite scripture, he or she is dead wrong! It takes the Holy Ghost working inside a soul to ready it for Heaven. Mankind does not have the power to save or deliver. It is all in Jesus. And when Jesus delivers, the old thing is passed away.
My mind goes to Noah. He was 500 years old when God saw the wickedness on the earth and God commanded Noah to build an ark. Noah was 600 years old when the floor of waters was upon the earth. That is 100 years. For 100 years people saw Noah building this ark as commanded by God so the righteous could be spared. 100 years!!!! Only 8 people and animals walked into the Ark. Why didn't others take heed? ( Genesis 5:32, 6:5-22, 7:5,6-16)
Is it any different today? All the calls that go forth to repent and souls still want to play.
