#Understanding,#Scripture, #Pay the Price,#The Truth

Praise the Lord!!

My soul delights in the Lord.  He is so good and kind and faithful to His children.  Years, I mean years I have pondered the scripture found in Proverbs 23:23 that says, "Buy the truth, and sell it not; also wisdom, and instruction, and understanding".  I have asked the Lord for years, what does buy the truth and sell it not mean.  When I  first got saved, I thought it meant, buying Bibles and study materials.  Wrong.

This past Friday, the question crossed my mind again.  With so much going on with those that profess Christ, the backsliders, the lukewarm, no interest in the work of the Lord, the question came back to my mind.  For regardless of what people do, the word of God can not be changed for anybody.

So what does it mean to buy the truth and sell it not?  It fell in my heart to turn on some holiness preaching.  The preacher was saying the church is not cheap.  He went on to teach about what something cheap means, what it looks like, how something cheap is handled, etc.  Then he gave a testimony.  He said a preacher friend he knows started a work for the Lord.  He was doing all the right things, but nothing was happening.  He said his friend went for a drive and was talking to the Lord.  He started asking the Lord to tell him what he was doing wrong.  Why wasn't anything working right.  He said the Lord spoke to his friend and told him, "you are buying the truth".  I repeated to myself the answer the Lord gave that preacher, 'you are buying the truth'.

Light bulb on!!!

Buy the truth?  Pay the price to find out and know it is real.  Go through for the cause of Christ and the gospel.  Can you stand when no one stands with you?  Can you continue on doing what the Lord called you to do when no one is helping you or if everyone is talking about you?  Will you buy into the truth of the gospel or will you sell out and run when you are tried??

Light bulb on!!

Buy into the truth.  A person has to be willing to go through to know for themselves the word of God is true and to prove to God that He can trust you with his work.  Don't faint.  Don't sell out.  Don't turn to the world or others, trust in the Lord with all thine heart and lean not to thine own understanding.  Stand on the Word of God so you can find out that it works.

Buy the truth and sell it not.  Get it?

Question, have you paid the price?  Have you bought the truth and not sold it?
