Born again. When is the last time you heard that phrase in association with someone going to church?
In the Gospel of John chapter three Nicodemus asked Jesus a question after Jesus made this statement: "Jesus answered and said unto him, verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God." John 3:3. Nicodemus asked Jesus, "How can a man be born when he is old? can he enter the second time into his mother's womb, and be born? Jesus answered, "Verily, verily I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. That which is born of flesh is flesh; and what which is born of the Spirit is spirit. Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again." John 3:5-7.
Born again. Repentance. The two go together. Jesus said to be born of water. What does that mean? It means being baptized, submerged, covered in a watery grave. Watery grave? It means being dipped in water from head to foot (at one time) and brought up out of it in obedience to the word of God. And it has to be done in Jesus Name according to Matthew 28:19 and Acts 2:38.
Repentance, inside change towards sin, asking the Lord to forgive you of your sin and when done in sincerity, the new creature comes forth. The person does not think the same, feel the same, talk the same, walk the same. The person no longer wants the world, but rather the things of the Lord. the person sees sin the way Jesus sees sin. New Creature, praise God.
I talked with a man today. He asked me what Church I go to. I told him. Then I asked him why did he ask me that. He said, 'because there is a difference'. Someone else tried to tell me there are different ways to reach people for Christ. Not so. One Lord. One Faith. One Baptism. There is only one door into the sheep fold and that way is Jesus Christ.
If you still look like you use to, act like you use to, dress like you use to, can mix the world and church going , you need to be born again of the water and the Spirit. Some have even been baptized in Jesus Name and still act like the world. There has to be a difference from the top of the head to the bottom of the feet and from the inside out.
Saints are peculiar people. And when that peculiar is come against, the Saint must earnestly contend for the faith that was once delivered.
Born Again. It is still required.
