Feeling Affect Discernment,#Feelings, #Obedience, Not Feelings

I had asked the Lord a lot a questions recently concerning why folks hop from church to church.  I asked why is there such a lack in obeying the Bible or at least striving to obey.  Why is there so much slack.

Around four o'clock in the morning, Monday May 1st, I got an answer.

When the Lord calls a person into the ministry, He places this desire for souls to be saved inside them.  He places a strong desire for the word of God, compromised.  He puts a drive in the soul to seek righteousness.  He puts a love for His people and their well being in the heart.  He puts a love for the church in the heart.  He puts a strong dislike for sin in the heart.

But, what happens when the people do not want to hear the truth?  Why are people going from assembly to assembly, running here and there.  Why have the people stop seeking the face of the Lord?  Why so easily discouraged and wanting to give up?  Why is there no drive to walk upright and contend for Holiness as in times past?  Why are children being brought up so slack in holiness?  Why is there not an alarm going off in the heart letting it be known things are off?  Why keep singing and fake dancing in the Spirit when there is no change of heart or actions?  Why are those that have been around the church for decades looking for something besides Jesus?

In the book of Genesis chapter 27, the scriptures speak of Isaac and his two sons, Esau and Jacob.  Isaac was of age and knew his time on earth was just about over.  He called his eldest son to him, Esau.    He advised Esau that his time was short and he asked Esau to cook him some venison and that he was going to pronounce blessings on Esau before he dies. Esau responded and said he would go and hunt for the venison.  Rebekah heard their conversation.  She goes and speaks to Jacob as she favored Jacob and wanted Jacob to receive the blessing.  She told Jacob what to do to appear as if he was Esau.  Rebekah agreed to cook the venison the way Isaac liked it, give it to Jacob to take to Esau.  Rebekah went and got some of Esau's clothing to put on Jacob so he would 'feel' like Esau.

When Jacob took the meal to Isaac here is what Isaac said. "And Isaac said to his son, How is it that thou hast found it so quickly, my son?  And he said, Because the Lord thy God brought it to me.  And Isaac said unto Jacob, Come near, I pray thee, that I may feel thee, my son, whether thou be my son Esau or not.  And Jacob went near unto Isaac his father: and he felt him, and said, The voice is Jacob's voice, but the hands are the hands of Esau.  And HE DISCERNED HIM NOT, because his hand were hairy, as his brother Esau hands; so he blessed him."  Genesis 27:20-23

What happened in these scriptures?

1. Rebekah persuaded her favorite son to deceive his father so he could receive the blessing of the first born.  She had not problem being deceitful to her husband or her son.

2. Physically, Isaac could not see well.  When he heard Jacobs voice, he questioned whether or not it was Esau, but he allowed what he felt to cause him to bless the wrong son.  He allowed what he felt, even after asking questions (which would indicate he knew something was not right),  to rule his actions.

This is what many are doing today, what they feel instead of obeying the word of God.

3.  One must keep yourself in the Lord so as to be able to discern or be led of the Lord concerning what is right and what is counterfeit.  Then obey the word.

Feelings.  Feelings affect discernment.  This scripture helped me to see that people are doing things without discerning and are conducting themselves according to how the flesh feels.  People are disregarding the instruction of their Pastors and becoming their own priests.  People are doing what they want to do because of how they feel instead of what the Word of God says and what their Pastor instructs them to do.  The Bible says to "obey them that have the rule over you, and submit yourselves unto them: for they watch for your souls, as they that must give account, that they may do it with joy, and not with grief: for that is unprofitable for you."  Hebrew 13:17

I was also reminded that the fall away is not going to be happen among those that do not know Jesus. It is going to happen among those that profess to know Jesus, yet the fruit of their ways says different.  "Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition: who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God.  II Thessalonians 2:3-4

The scripture goes on to say, "and with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved.  And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie; That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness."  II Thessalonians 2:10-12

Feelings.  The catalyst for the falling away.
