#Baptism,#Jesus
"Then cometh Jesus from Galilee to Jordan unto John to be baptized of him. But John forbad him, saying, I have need to be baptized of thee, and comest thou to me? And Jesus answering said unto him, Suffer it to be so now, for thus it becometh us to fulfill all righteousness. Then he suffered him." Matthew 3:13-15
Baptism is part of salvation. Not sprinkling. To be baptized means to be submerged in water (buried). What I remember the older preachers calling a 'watery grave'. After a soul repents of the sin that WAS in his or her life, baptism is required to show forth a dying out to sin and being raised into a new life as a new creature (born again). To complete the new birth process, the soul has to get filled with the Holy Ghost. Death to the ways and the spirit of the old man and life to the new man and a new spirit. Getting filled with the Holy Ghost brings power (Acts 1:8). This power from God equips the man, woman, boy or girl to live a sanctified life. This power gives the man, woman, boy or girl the desire to be Holy. This power gives the man, woman, boy or girl the desire to shun the very appearance of evil. This power gives the man, woman, boy or girl the strength to fight against the wiles of the devil, the works of the flesh and all manner of evil.
No wonder the devil has folks fighting against being born again, tarrying for the Holy Ghost. The Holy Ghost is power. Praise God.
Have your received the Holy Ghost since you first believed? If so, do you still have it like the Bible says?
"Now when they heard this, they were pricked in their hearts, and said unto Peter and to the rest of the apostles, men and brethren, what shall we do? Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized everyone of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost." Acts 2:37,38
"Then they that gladly received his word were baptized: and the same day there were added unto them about three thousand souls." Acts 2:41
