Jesus, #Church, #Holiness, #Salvation
Jude 3 says, "Beloved, when I gave all diligence to write unto you of the common salvation, it was needful for me to write unto you, and exhort you that ye should earnestly contend for the faith which was once delivered unto the saints".
As a minister of the Gospel, this is one of the duties the Lord has commanded, keep the faith alive. What is meant by faith? Accepting and believing the Gospel of Jesus Christ the way it is written. For in order to go to Heaven, everyone must obey the same Gospel.
There is a charge to preach the Gospel, because one never knows who will be the next person to believe in the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Preaching the Gospel, so the death, burial and resurrection of Christ can be believed on unto salvation. What is the Gospel? The good news that Jesus Christ paid for sin, when he allowed himself to be crucified. Jesus is God. He could have called down a legion of Angels to destroy those that set out to kill Him. But, He had to die. His blood had to be shed. For, His blood is sin free. The Bible says without the shedding of blood is no remission (Hebrew 9:22).
So, when Jesus allowed Himself to be crucified and pierced in His side, His blood was shed for the sins of the world. However, in order for the blood to be applied to wash away the sin in a persons life, repentance must take place. In the act of repentance, the sinner confesses to God that he or she has disobeyed the Word of God and is a sinner. The person 'changes their mind' - repents, about the sin in their life. When the mind is changed, the blood is applied, sin is forgiven and removed. This is what men, women, boys and girls need to know and obey. When a person is allowed to believe they are saved from sin and they have not repented, the preacher that allows it will be held accountable. When sin is allowed without repentance, that is not the act of 'contending for the faith'.
Oh, that the Church would get back to being the Church (the word of God being preached, prayer taking place, repentance taken place, altar calls, prayer lines, fasting, praying, Bible Study and anointed Holy Ghost led preaching!!).
It does not stop with repentance. The soul that repents needs power to stay away from the sinful life they left and power to live according to the Word of God. Therefore, after repentance, comes being Holy Ghost filled. Acts 1:8 says, " ye shall receive power after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you". It takes the power of God to keep the soul is a pure state.
So as you can see, many have gotten off track. This is a call to come back to the Old Land Mark before it is ever lasting tooooooo late.
