Everyday you hear of someone professing Christ, but not living the life or believing in living the way the Bible says. Everyday you hear of some Hollywood person or worldly entertainer being a Christian. But, Christian means Christ like. The Bible says the disciples were first called Christians at Antioch ( Acts 11:26). A disciple is one that follows someones teachings. The disciples in the Bible followed the teachings of Christ. The teachings of Christ are found in the four Gospels. The works of Christ (Holy Ghost) and His instruction to His followers are found in the books Acts through Revelation.
Everyone has a soul. The soul is not going back to the dust. Helping the soul of a man find out how to enter into eternal rest in Heave is the purpose of the Church. Keeping the soul from spending its eternal resting place in hell is the purpose of the Church too. For Jesus came to seek and save the lost. In order for a soul to spend eternity in rest, requires salvation. In order to be 'saved' you have to go to Church and hear the Word preached. The Bibles says it pleased God by the foolishness of preaching to save them that believer (I Corinthians 1:21). Then after salvation, you have to maintain it. In order to maintain your salvation you have to go to Church. For again, the Lord commanded "Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is, but exhorting one another; and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching" (Hebrews 10:25).
Multitudes go to buildings that profess to be the Church, but Jesus is not mentioned. Holiness is not mentioned. Being baptized in Jesus Name is not mentioned. Sin is not preached against. Hell is never mentioned. In these buildings everything is o.k. There are no standards of Holiness. The Holy Ghost is not present. For some reason today, if noise is made, music is loud these things are identified as the 'Spirit being present'. Prayer no longer precedes the service. Altar calls do not take place. Repentance is unheard of in these buildings. It seems as long as everyone has a good time, shouts, sings the Holy Ghost 'showed up and showed out'. Not so. This is not the Church that Jesus purchased with His blood.
Think about it. Seek the truth and get saved like the Bible says.
